The Best Chicken Katsu Curry Recipe
Chicken katsu curry is an extremely popular Japanese food, one that you will no doubt keep making once you’ve tried it the first time. With tender chicken, which has a crispy coating, and a delicious curry sauce over rice, it’s sumptuous and filling but also healthy.

Chicken Katsu Curry
Shopping list
- 2 tbsp of sunflower oil
- 2 sliced onions
- 5 chopped garlic cloves
- 2 sliced carrots
- Spicentice Chicken Katsu Curry Kit
- 600ml of chicken stock
- 4 tsp of soy sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- A chicken breast
- 2 tbsp of flour
- 1 beaten egg
- 100g of breadcrumbs
Preparing the curry sauce
Heat the oil in a medium non-stick saucepan. Add the onion and garlic, and cook for about 10 minutes. After that, add the flour and Spicentice chicken katsu curry kit and cook for 1 minute. Stir it and mix with the stock, add soy sauce and wait to boil. Turn down the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Wait for the sauce to thicken and set aside.
Cooking
- Prepare the chicken by seasoning it with salt and pepper. Place it in the beaten egg, then the flour, and finally the breadcrumbs and coat the chicken. Cover both sides and make sure you dip it properly.
- Heat the oil in the large frying pan and cook the chicken. Wait for it to turn golden brown and make sure to check both sides.
- Drain the chicken and serve in white rice. Pour over the curry sauce over.
